AHK-Cu (Ala-His-Lys copper complex) is a synthetic tripeptide that forms a stable complex with copper ions. Structurally distinct from GHK-Cu, it has been studied primarily in the context of topical and external applications, with research focusing on its influence on skin biology, collagen synthesis, and dermal remodeling. Its copper-chelating properties make it of interest in cosmetic science and wound biology when applied externally to tissue.

Mechanism of Action

Investigated for its ability to deliver bioavailable copper to skin tissue, supporting copper-dependent enzyme activity including lysyl oxidase, which is essential for collagen and elastin cross-linking.

Research suggests stimulation of fibroblast activity and extracellular matrix component synthesis when applied topically in cell models.

Studied for antioxidant properties at the dermal level through copper-mediated superoxide dismutase (SOD) pathway activation.

Preclinical studies indicate potential modulation of skin cell proliferation and migration relevant to wound healing models.

Investigated for reduction of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) activity associated with collagen degradation in aging skin biology.

Research Areas

Topical skin aging and dermal remodeling research.

Collagen and elastin synthesis studies in fibroblast cell models.

Wound healing biology in external tissue application models.

Hair follicle and scalp biology in topical application research.

Copper-dependent enzyme activity research in dermal systems.

Presentation and Storage

Supplied as a lyophilized powder in a sealed vial containing 50mg of AHK-Cu. Intended for topical and external research applications only. Reconstitute with appropriate carrier solution for external use. Store at -20C.
