Kisspeptin (formerly metastin) is a neuropeptide encoded by the KISS1 gene and studied as a critical upstream regulator of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis. By stimulating GnRH neurons, it drives pulsatile LH and FSH release, making it a foundational research compound in reproductive endocrinology and hormone biology.

Mechanism of Action

Binds to the kisspeptin receptor (KISS1R/GPR54) on GnRH neurons in the hypothalamus, triggering pulsatile GnRH secretion in animal models.

Research shows downstream stimulation of LH and FSH from the anterior pituitary, supporting gonadal steroidogenesis.

Investigated for its role in pubertal onset and reproductive axis maintenance.

Studied for modulation of estrogen and progesterone feedback loops in female reproductive biology.

Preclinical research suggests influence on sexual behavior and libido through central neurological pathways.

Research Areas

        Hypogonadism and testosterone biology research.

Fertility and reproductive cycle regulation studies.

Hypothalamic amenorrhea and reproductive axis restoration models.

HPG axis stimulation research as an alternative to HCG-based approaches.

Puberty regulation and reproductive aging biology.

Presentation and Storage

Supplied as a lyophilized powder in a sealed vial containing 5mg of kisspeptin. Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water for laboratory use. Store at -20C.
