BPC - 157
BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157) is a synthetic pentadecapeptide of 15 amino acids derived from a protective protein found in human gastric juice. It is among the most widely studied regenerative peptides in preclinical research, with documented biological activity across musculoskeletal healing, gastrointestinal repair, neurological recovery, and systemic anti-inflammatory models.
Mechanism of Action
• Research shows promotion of angiogenesis through upregulation of VEGF expression, increasing vascular supply to injured or hypoxic tissues in preclinical models.
• Studied for activation of growth hormone receptor signaling at local tissue sites, influencing cellular proliferation and collagen synthesis.
• Investigated for modulation of nitric oxide (NO) synthesis and tissue blood flow regulation in damaged tissue models.
• Preclinical studies show inhibition of NF-kB pathway activation, reducing pro-inflammatory cytokine production.
• Research indicates support of intestinal epithelial cell migration and mucosal repair through EGF receptor system interaction.
Research Areas
• Tendon, ligament, and muscle repair models examining soft tissue healing and recovery.
• Gastrointestinal biology including ulcer healing, intestinal permeability, and inflammatory bowel research.
• Joint biology including cartilage protection and anti-inflammatory research in arthritis models.
• Neurological recovery studies including neuroprotection and motor function repair.
• Post-injury tissue healing and regeneration biology.
